POTSDAM — The village board of trustees recently passed resolutions to forward unpaid tax bills to the county, moved several village vehicles to the surplus list and approved a retirement.
The board met Oct. 21 and approved the measures at their regular meeting.
Trustees and the mayor passed a resolution authorizing the Village Tax Collector to sign the Village of Potsdam Tax Roll of Unpaid Taxed for the 2024-2025 period, in the amount of $258,869.77, plus interest and penalties in the amount of $18,120.92, for a total of $276,990.69. The unpaid taxes will then be turned over to the St. Lawrence County Treasurer, who in turn will make the village whole on its levy demands, and then pursue the unpaid village taxes from the county level.
In another resolution, the board approved the sale of surplus vehicles. On the list were a 1999 Ford Ranger, 1996 Ford F-350, 2005 Dodge Dakota, 2006 International Dump Truck and a 1996 Ford F-350 with dual rear tires. The vehicles will presumably be sold at a municipal auction or for scrap.
Finally, the village accepted “with regret” the resignation of DPW Motor Equipment Operator Jacob Stone, effective Oct. 15.
