MASSENA - The family of Tommaso “Thomas” Gramuglia, age 74, of Massena, NY, are saddened to report his passing on Saturday evening, October 26, 2024, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY.
Family and friends are invited to call the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Mark Reilly officiating at 10:00 am. Entombment will take place in Fort Lee, New Jersey on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Madonna Cemetery & Mausoleum at 10:00 am. Following the entombment service family and friends will be invited to a local restaurant in Fort Lee to celebrate Tom’s life, details to be shared after the service.
Tom was born in Englewood, NJ, to the late Antonio and Maria (Oliveri) Gramuglia on December 6, 1949. Tom attended schools in New Jersey where he graduated from Fort Lee High School, and later attended New York Institute of Technology. Shortly after, Tom met and was married to Ginette Cormier on November 19, 1970, in Mont Royal, Quebec. They began their family shortly after and soon relocated from New Jersey to the North Country in 1973, where they began his first of many successful businesses, Michele Audio Corporation.
As technology changed Michelex was formed in the late 1980’s to manufacture and distribute media packaging and components. His final and still active company Hindsight Records which was purchased by Tom in the 1970’s still continues to release music in the big band, jazz, classical and country genre.
Tom enjoyed many things throughout his life. His love of family and friends was very important. He had a passion for travelling, antique cars, model trains and cooking food for friends and family. A very compassionate and loving father, Tom also volunteered may countless hours with the Massena Rotary Club and was also a Life Member of the Massena Elks Lodge No. 1702, and the Massena Italian American Club. Tom also organized events to raise money, and he also donated to many local charities.
Tom is survived by his devoted children, Michele and husband Henry Stone of Chase Mills, NY, Patrick Gramuglia and his wife Valerie Bonneau of Vaudreuil-sur-le-lac, Quebec, Tommasso Gramuglia II of Rome, Italy and ex-wife Ginette Gramuglia of Massena. Tom is also survived by his grandchildren; Dylan Stone and companion Madeson LaVigne of Massena, Kyrsten and Zebulon Zagrobelny of Waddington, NY, Leanne and Emily Gramuglia of Vaudreuil-sur-le-lac, Quebec, and a great-grandson Henrik Stone of Massena, along with a brother Vincent and wife Janet of Glenville, NY and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
In addition to his parents, Tom is predeceased by his sisters; Nancy Amendola, Maria Carnovale and Patrick “Patsy” Napoli.
