To the Editor:
As the statewide President of United University Professions, I am writing to make this clear about the notices of retrenchment issued at SUNY Potsdam: We are fighting these cuts and we will continue to fight them.
No one in our union has surrendered or will surrender on this issue.
We are advocating in Albany every day to restore funding necessary to reinstate the positions affected by the recent wave of retrenchment notices. We are pursuing every avenue available to us under our collective bargaining agreement to save these jobs.
We are also keeping all options on the table to defend the rights of our members and right the wrongs of these retrenchments.
We collectively stand in solidarity as one union against SUNY's misguided approach and ask you to join us in advocating for continued investment in your community's SUNY campus.
We must all stand together #PotsdamProud.
United University Professions President Frederick E. Kowal
